Our Story
DL Army Surplus opened its doors in Wenatchee because our corner of the Cascades doesn't run on fashion-season inventory — it runs on gear that works. We started as a small storefront stocking genuine and surplus-pattern field jackets for orchard crews and hunters who needed something warmer than what the big-box stores carried each October. Word got around, and the shelves grew from a rack of field coats to a full lineup of combat shirts, cargo trousers, thermals, wool sweaters, and rain gear.
We're not a costume shop and we're not a tactical-fashion outlet. Everything we carry is built to the same rugged, no-nonsense standard as the originals it's patterned after: heavy cotton-nylon sateen, real ripstop, reinforced stress points, and hardware that doesn't quit halfway through a season. Our customers are orchardists, hunters, ranch hands, contractors, and anyone else in North Central Washington who spends more time outside than in.
We source from mills and cut-and-sew shops that understand military-pattern construction, and we test everything we sell against the same conditions our customers face — freezing mornings on an orchard ladder, brush and briars on a hillside, and rain that doesn't let up until March. If it doesn't hold up to that, it doesn't go on our racks.
Our Mission
Our mission is simple: outfit outdoorsmen, hunters, and working locals with rugged, honestly priced clothing that does the job season after season. We believe gear should be judged by how it performs on day 200, not how it photographs on day one. That means olive drab, coyote brown, and multicam over trend colors, and hard-wearing construction over throwaway fast fashion.
We also believe in straight talk about what we sell. When something is a genuine mil-spec cut, we say so. When it's a civilian surplus-pattern garment inspired by military design, we say that too. You should always know exactly what you're buying and why it's priced the way it is.

Sizing & Fit Philosophy
Military-pattern garments were cut for layering, not for a slim runway fit, and we keep that philosophy on our own racks. Every product page carries a full size chart with chest, waist, and hip measurements in both inches and centimeters, plus a fit tip so you know whether to size up for a thermal underneath or stick with your usual size. We stock consistently from small through 2XL and cargo trousers from a 30-inch to a 40-inch waist, because a crew of ten different body types all need pants that fit on the same job site.
We hear from customers who've been burned by novelty "military style" retailers selling thin, single-season fabric dressed up in camo print. That's exactly what we set out to avoid. Before a garment earns a spot in our lineup, we check seam strength, zipper and snap hardware, and fabric weight against the genuine mil-spec patterns they're based on — not just the picture on the tag.

Our Commitment to Quality
Every garment that reaches our shelves gets checked for stitch density, snap and zipper pull strength, and colorfastness before we'll put our name behind it. We'd rather carry six categories done right than sixty done cheap. That's why you won't find boots, headgear, rucksacks, or camping gear here — garments are what we know, and garments are what we do well.
When a customer tells us a jacket's storm flap snap popped loose after a season of ranch work, we want to hear about it, and we stand behind the fix. That kind of feedback loop is how a small shop keeps its gear honest.

We stand behind everything we sell. If a garment doesn't hold up the way it should, tell us — we'll make it right with a replacement or a refund. We size our stock generously across S through 2XL and post real size charts on every product page, because a jacket that doesn't fit is a jacket that stays in the closet.

Surplus-pattern gear has always had a practical case for sustainability built in: garments made to survive a decade of hard outdoor use simply need replacing less often than fast-fashion equivalents. We lean into that by favoring durable, repairable construction — snap flaps and reinforced seams that a local tailor can service instead of throwaway zippers and bonded seams. Buying one field jacket that lasts eight winters beats buying three that don't survive one.
